A baby has gained thousands of fans on social media after a video of him dancing the haka, a traditional dance of the Maori people, went viral on TikTok.

The Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. One of the most recognized Maori traditions outside of New Zealand is the haka, a dance traditionally used both on the battlefield and when groups gather in peace.

Haka is a demonstration of pride, strength, and unity of a tribe. And that’s what this adorable baby demonstrates in the video shared on TikTok in November 2020. “When you grow up learning haka!” says the caption shared along with the clip.

In the comments, the little one received many compliments. “Beautiful thing,” said one TikTok user. “Facial expressions and all… already powerful,” commented another. “The best haka I’ve ever witnessed. Grow strong and proud, little warrior,” affirmed a third internet user.
